Washing machine repair in Lanarkshire
A washing machine that stops draining, spinning or heating is rarely a dead machine. Blocked filters, worn pumps, failed door locks and tired bearings account for most call-outs, and most of those are cheaper to fix than to replace.
Common problems
- Won't drain, or leaves water in the drum
- Won't spin, or spins slowly
- Leaks from the door, drawer or underneath
- Door won't open or won't lock, so the cycle never starts
- Loud banging or a rumbling drum
- Washes cold, or the cycle takes far too long
- Error code on the display that keeps coming back
What to check first
- Switch off and unplug it before you check anything.
- Clean the filter behind the small panel at the bottom front. Put a towel and a shallow tray down first, because water will come out.
- Check the drain hose isn't kinked or pushed too far down the standpipe.
- Make sure the machine isn't overloaded and the door closes properly.
When to call an engineer
Call an engineer if water is coming from inside the machine, you can smell burning, the fuse trips, the drum rumbles on spin, or the same error code returns after you switch off and on.

Common questions
Is it worth repairing a washing machine?
Often yes. If the fault is a pump, door lock, hose, heating element or a similar part, a repair usually costs far less than a replacement. A failed drum bearing on an older or budget machine is the case where replacing can make more sense. The engineer will tell you which side of that line your machine is on.
What should I have ready when I book?
The make, the model number (usually on a sticker inside the door or on the back), and what the machine is doing. A photo of any error code helps.
