Hob and induction hob repair in Lanarkshire
A hob ring that won't heat or a touch panel that has stopped responding often comes down to a single part: an element, a switch, a control board or an igniter on a gas hob.
Common problems
- One ring or zone won't heat
- Touch controls unresponsive or beeping
- Induction hob shows an error or keeps switching off
- Gas hob won't ignite or clicks constantly
- Cracked or chipped glass
- Hob trips the electrics
What to check first
- Check the hob isn't in child-lock mode, and that the panel and sensors are clean and dry.
- On induction, check the pan is suitable and sits flat and central on the zone.
- On gas, make sure the burner caps are seated properly and dry.
When to call an engineer
Stop using a hob with cracked glass. For gas, if you smell gas call 0800 111 999. Call an engineer for any repeated error, a ring that won't heat, or anything that trips the electrics.
Common questions
Why does my induction hob keep switching off?
Overheating, a spill on the controls, an unsuitable pan or a fan or board fault can all cause it. Keep the vents clear and the panel dry, and if it keeps happening get it looked at.
Who can repair a gas hob?
Any work on gas must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
